420 so much cannabis propaganda..

So, as there is so much in the news recently about the “dangers” of cannabis, I thought I’d provide a list of links to various studies of the herb and it’s potential medicinal use.

IMG_8895

Before I do, we must remember that cannabis has been deemed by the government to have “No medicinal value”. However, GW Pharmaceuticals have already been using cannabis based Sativex to successfully relieve muscle spasticity in MS patients. Their trial of Epidiolex in epilepsy patients is already showing promising results in patients who do not respond to the range of available prescription drugs.

“No medicinal value” my arse.

Please take your time to work your way through this extensive, but not exhaustive, list.. Within you will find evidence of CBD induced apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells (healthy cells left in tact) as well as many other medicinal uses for this wonderful herb.

I’m not a smoker (or a toker) I don’t use cannabis, but I sure as heck won’t rule it out once it becomes a mainstream medicine.

So, hell huh?

I’ve lost count of the number of times a theist has scolded me, telling me I’m going to hell for my lack of belief. They just don’t understand when, not only am I not worried, I actually pity them, and then I laugh.

2015/01/img_8026.jpg

Hell has no location other than in your head. It’s not somewhere you go, rather it’s somewhere from which you can’t escape. If I do something wrong I have to live with that forever; the niggling thought in the back of my head, the knot in my stomach, the guilty flush on my cheeks every time I remember my misdeed, and that is enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.

2015/01/img_8168.png

That’s hell. That right there. I don’t need a fiery pit, my conscience is worse. I don’t need satan, I punish my self enough. And I don’t need the promise of another life in order to live this one well.

Answering a Child’s Question

Wonderful blog post!

Secular Chaplain

In Manila In Manila

Former Street Child Asks the Pope Why God Lets Children Suffer

I admire much of what the Catholic Papa tells his faithful.  I think his best response to this girl’s question was to hug her.  A very pastoral (and basically human) thing to do.  He also  responded, quite honestly I think, :

“She is the only one who has put a question for which there is no answer and she wasn’t even able to express it in words but in tears,”

Respectfully, I would offer another response to this girl’s honest and heartfelt question:

After a hug, of course. . .

1)  Children suffer because communities do not work together with commitment to end the suffering

2)  Children suffer because governments expend so much more money on power, wealth and the military that there is little left for helping poorer citizens

3)  Children suffer because religious institutions (especially…

Brother Noah built the ark

Hmm..

2015/01/img_8436.jpg

Uh-huh..?

2015/01/img_7979.jpg

Cool story, Bro…

2015/01/img_7965.jpg

Well isn’t that nice!

2015/01/img_7790.jpg

Let me guess, another miracle?

2015/01/img_8271.jpg

A 950 year old man.
An incestuous family (again).
Who scoured the earth for two of every species of ant? Beetle? Worm? Butterfly? Bird?
How did they transport these animals back to the ark site?
What happened to the plant life?
How are their black people if Noah’s family were white?
How did the kangaroos get back to Australia without leaving a single trace of their passing?
What about all the poop?
What did Noah’s family eat?
What did all the animals eat? Herbivores, carnivores, omnivores?

And the rainbow thing.. Really?

Religion. Are you really that stupid?

My #1 Reason for disbelief in God.

teal tomato

Both of my top two reasons for my loss of faith in God were anthropological and came to me out of my own experience and exposure to the real world during our time living overseas as missionaries.  This first reason can be summarized by the following picture and video.

funny-map-Bible-action-circle

And this video (I apologize in advance if this is offensive to theists; the makers of the video weren’t concerned about the feelings of believers.) :

The burden of proof, or lack thereof.

2015/01/img_8188.jpg

Ask them. Just ask them. You’ll be fobbed off with anecdotal “evidence” and peculiar analogies but not one person can provide a shred of credible, tangible, testable, evidence that there is a god. Instead they flip it and try to get the asker to prove there isn’t a god, which is ridiculous at best.

2015/01/img_7977.jpg

Instead they try to dispute scientific theories such as evolution by taking the word theory and assuming it means guess.

2015/01/img_8172.jpg

They try to tell you that the Big Bang theory is ridiculous because how can something come from nothing? So if everything needs a creator…

2015/01/img_8178.jpg

They don’t have a leg to stand on. Your religion belongs in the dark ages. If you refuse to accept change, you belong in the dark ages with it.

How's life looking?
